What is podcasting?

Podcasting is simply a way of creating and distributing audio files, to be downloaded and listened by the audience, via the Internet. Listeners can listen to those podcasts whenever, wherever and as many times as they want. For this reason, it is a perfect source for ELT teachers to be able to practice the language. Teachers can find plenty of podcasts on the Internet or they can create their own podcasts, and even they can have their students to create their podcasts.

I as a pre-service teacher have created my first podcast and found it quite difficult but also very beneficial. I spent too much time to be able to create a one-minute podcast but I had a chance to hear myself and I could easily notice if my pronunciation was correct or not or my speech was easy to understand or not etc. I think the more I prepare podcast, the easier it will be.

I will probably use podcasting with my future students because I can create podcasts directly related to my students’ needs and they have a chance to listen my podcasts as many times as they want.

Here is the first podcast which I have prepared with my friend Büşra. You can reach the podcast by clicking the link below. We talked about one inspiring idea to make the world a better place to live in. Listen to it and find our ‘brilliant’ idea and don’t forget to write a comment about it!
